February 21, 2012 – This morning, two massive Media Research Center (MRC) billboards totaling 1,684 square feet were hoisted in one of the world’s busiest pedestrian intersections – New York City’s Times Square. The objective: to hold the liberal media accountable. The advertisements, featuring the “Don’t Believe the Liberal Media!” motto, are the largest ad buy in the MRC’s 25-year history and will be featured for four weeks. More than 1.3 million onlookers in the highly trafficked intersection are expected to see the billboards which are valued at $180,000. This iconic location has hosted ads by some of the most... continue reading
On Monday, MRC President Brent Bozell sent the following letter to the Presidents of the news divisions of ABC, CBS and NBC, and to the President of CNN: The broadcast and cable television networks need to report the current, unprecedented assault against freedom of religion in this country, as well as the millions of Americans who would be left out in the cold by the Obama administration if it does not rescind HHS's recently issued insurance mandate requiring contraceptive coverage. As our statistics and analysis below outline, they are not, and it's a glaring double standard. First, allow us to... continue reading
Washington, DC – Today, the Media Research Center announced the launch of a $5 million campaign to document and expose media bias and its role in the 2012 presidential election, including a $2.5 million advertising budget. ' Tell The Truth! 2012 ' is the largest effort the MRC has undertaken in its 25-year history. It will also be the largest social media effort ever undertaken by conservatives, via Facebook , Twitter , e-mail , the blogosphere and the MRC's own MRCTV.org . ' It's time for Americans to take a stand, once and for all, against this leftist media ,'... continue reading
MRC President Brent Bozell issued the following statement in reaction to ABC's decision to air an interview with Newt Gingrich's ex-wife, Marianne, on the January 19 Nightline , just two days before the South Carolina primary: It is not necessarily inappropriate for a news outlet to interview a candidate's former wife. However, three conditions must be met: 1) is it newsworthy?; 2) is it fair and respectful to the families involved?; 3) is the timing appropriate? On the timing issue alone it is clearly inappropriate for ABC to run this interview on the eve of the South Carolina primary. This... continue reading
Alexandria, VA – The Media Research Center (MRC) announces The Best Notable Quotables of 2011: The 24th Annual Awards for the Year's Worst Reporting today with New York Times columnist Paul Krugman taking home the 'Quote of the Year' honor. Voted on by a select panel of judges, and certainly disappointing Chris Matthews who did not repeat last year's victory, Krugman's quote about leaders on the right capitalizing on the atrocities of 9/11 was just too notable to pass over. In a blog post on the 10 year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Krugman wrote: 'What happened after 9/11 —... continue reading
Alexandria, VA – In the wake of the news that Christiane Amanpour is leaving ABC's "This Week," after just 15 months as host, the Media Research Center reminds us of some of the most egregious biased remarks from Amanpour: "This is reverse Robin Hoodism, if you like — take from the poor, give back to the rich again." -Christiane Amanpour talking to Rep. Paul Ryan about his budget proposal, May 1, 2011. "Full of sunny optimism, very Reaganesque, on and on about American exceptionalism in many, many instances and full of Kennedyesque encouragement to break a new frontier. That Sputnik... continue reading
Alexandria, VA – Following the recent threats from Nancy Pelosi and the heavy brush with which the media are painting Newt Gingrich as unethical, the Media Research Center is now calling on the networks to seize the moment and report the truth from nearly 13 years ago. "It has been 4,689 days since the IRS formally cleared Newt Gingrich of any violation of tax law. It's been 4,689 days since ABC, CBS, and NBC have had the opportunity to report it, " said Brent Bozell, founder and president of the MRC. "What the heck. Why not today? Now is the... continue reading
Alexandria, VA - In direct contrast to how ABC, CBS and NBC newsrooms all but ignored the sexual assault allegations against Bill Clinton from multiple women including Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broaddrick, the same networks are now salivating over an alleged act of harassment by Herman Cain from anonymous sources, a new MRC report finds. A look back at the Clinton scandals : Paula Jones – February, 1994 - Accused Bill Clinton of exposing himself to her in a hotel room. CBS and NBC ignored her press conference. ABC gave it 16 seconds of coverage. Kathleen Willey –... continue reading
Alexandria, VA - The Media Research Center's Brent Bozell issued the following statement in response to the firestorm of media attention to accusations against Herman Cain: 'Sadly, Herman Cain's predictions have come true. In May he stated that he was 'ready for the same high-tech lynching that [Clarence Thomas] went through - for the good of this country.' That's what Politico is doing with its unsubstantiated and thoroughly hypocritical hit piece against him. Anyone in the press that gives this story oxygen is equally hypocritical. 'In the eyes of the liberal media, Herman Cain is just another uppity black American... continue reading
Alexandria, VA – Within hours of MRC President Brent Bozell sending certified overnight letters to demand ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC cover the video evidence of racial bigotry at Occupy Wall Street protests, three prominent Jewish leaders united with the call for the TV networks to cover the anti-Jewish hatred. Bozell maintains that these networks will be guilty of intentionally covering up acts of anti-Semitism if this continues to go unreported and draws on their obsession with reporting alleged – yet unsubstantiated – claims that Tea Party members exhibited racism. The statements include: 'The Left has a long history of... continue reading
