ALEXANDRIA, VA - Speaking today on MSNBC's Morning Joe, former CBS news anchor Dan Rather noted that the traditional media is largely ignoring Democratic Senator and Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden's alarming comment on Sunday: " ... (M)ark my words, within the next, first six months of this administration if we win, you're gonna face a major international challenge, because they are going to want to test him.... " Rather pointed out " ... (C)ertainly if Sarah Palin had said this it would be above the fold in most newspapers today... (I)f Sarah Palin had said this, the newspapers would... continue reading
ALEXANDRIA, VA - In an interview for the upcoming New York Times's Sunday Magazine , and again in last night's Presidential debate, Illinois Senator Barack Obama singled out the Fox News Channel for scorn for how he feels they are covering his campaign. Excerpted Sen. Obama quotes from the Times Sunday Magazin e: "I am convinced that if there were no Fox News, I might be two or three points higher in the polls.... If I were watching Fox News, I wouldn't vote for me, right? ... Because the way I'm portrayed 24/7 is as a freak. I am the... continue reading
ALEXANDRIA, VA - Sen. Barack Obama has launched a new TV advertisement in Spanish against Sen. John McCain that smears nationally syndicated talk radio show host Rush Limbaugh. The ad, which will run in Limbaugh's home state of Florida as well as Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico, flashes a picture of Limbaugh and quotes him saying, "Mexicans are stupid and unqualified" and "Shut your mouth or get out." Both excerpts are used to make Limbaugh appear racist and fail to include the context surrounding these phrases. Transcripts reveal that the former addressed jobs in Mexico, not immigrants (legal or illegal),... continue reading
ALEXANDRIA, VA - A new Rasmussen poll has determined that "this year by a nearly five-to-one margin voters believe they are trying to help Barack Obama." Specifically, "50 percent of voters think most reporters are trying to help Obama win versus 11 percent who believe they are trying to help his Republican opponent John McCain." Even among Democrats, more think journalists are aiding Democrat Obama than Republican McCain: "19 percent of Democrats agree, one percentage point higher than the number of Democrats who believe they are trying to help McCain." ALEXANDRIA, VA - While interviewing Washington Post associate editor Bob Woodward on Sunday's 60 Minutes , anchor Scott Pelley implied that President George W. Bush and the United States were to blame for the murders of innocent Iraqi civilians. Woodward quoted President Bush: "I don't understand that the Iraqis are not appreciative of what we've done for them," namely liberating them. To which Pelley responded: "But tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis had been killed in the invasion and through the occupation. He (Bush) didn't understand why they might be a little ungrateful about what had occurred to them?" MRC... continue reading
Alexandria, VA - Succumbing to increasing pressure from both within and outside the network, MSNBC over the weekend announced they were yanking the anchor team of Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews as "news anchors" of their coverage of the 2008 Presidential race. Last week there were multiple protests by irate viewers, including on-air hecklers waving signs mocking MSNBC's overt bias. And at a panel discussion in Denver two weeks ago, NBC's Tom Brokaw acknowledged that Olbermann and Matthews had "gone too far" at times. Their reputations, and that of NBC News, were suffering sustained and increasing damage the longer MSNBC... continue reading
ALEXANDRIA, VA - Rumors and allegations have now become headlines in the left-wing "news" media as evidenced by the continued personal smear campaign being waged against GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The left-wing media continue to attack her, attack her husband, and even her children, culling their stories from the likes of the Daily Kos and the Huffington Post. In her speech to the delegates in Minnesota, Palin directly pushed back against their elitism. The crowd roared their approval as did millions of Americans watching on TV. This is how the left-wing press responded: • "I hope my colleagues... continue reading
See Retraction Below ALEXANDRIA, VA - As conservatives all expected, the leftist media went into high gear in their low-road attacks of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin immediately following the Friday announcement by Sen. John McCain that she was his choice to be Vice President. The honeymoon didn't last the hour. Exhibiting their utter shamelessness, some in the press actually attacked Gov. Palin because her four-month old son has Down's syndrome. CNN's John Roberts dove right down to the bottom: "There's also this issue that on April 18th, she gave birth to a baby with Down's syndrome.... Children with Down's syndrome... continue reading
ALEXANDRIA, VA - Media Research Center President L. Brent Bozell today sent a letter to Newsday Publisher Tim Knight demanding an apology for the August 13 column by Jenna Kern-Rugile entitled "Does shock jock hate speech lead to violence?" in which she inexplicably and noxiously links the contemptible July 27 murders committed in the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly. Bozell also insisted that Ms. Rugile never again appear on the pages of Newsday . MRC President L. Brent Bozell: "Yesterday's Newsday column was absolutely despicable, and they should be ashamed... continue reading
Alexandria, VA- The broadcast networks buried and at times refused to report the hate-filled and anti-American sentiment of presidential candidate Barack Obama's spiritual mentor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. A new Media Research Center study, Editing Reverend Wright's Wrongs , details the limited (and sometimes censored) coverage Wright's comments received from February 10, 2007 to July 15, 2008. Viewers who watched ABC, NBC, and CBS saw very little of Rev. Wright's worst inflammatory remarks about America deserving 9/11 and the U.S. government inventing the AIDS virus to kill blacks. "The broadcast networks have really shown themselves to be completely useless to voters... continue reading
