On Monday afternoon, former Mayor of New Orleans Ray Nagin, a Democrat, began a 10-year prison sentence for corruption charges that were a result of his actions following the landfall of Hurricane Katrina and subsequent flooding of the city in August 2005. After attending the NATO summit in Wales, President Obama only managed to convince 9 of the 28 member nations to join the U.S.-led effort to combat the ISIS terror network in Iraq and Syria. While promoting a book of news photography on CBS This Morning on Saturday, Sir Harold Evans, editor at large of the Reuters news agency, called the electric chair a “monstrosity” and said seeing a picture of one was “almost as appalling, in its sense, as these barbarians who have taken the heads off journalists in the desert.” Of course, the imposition of the death penalty in the U.S. is reserved for the worst murderers, after lengthy trials and appeals, while the ISIS executioners beheaded innocent journalists as a way to terrorize the civilized world. Crawford touted the "striking images" in the group's new ad campaign, which she labeled their " most aggressive attempt yet ...to draw attention to what they say are weak gun control laws ."
