NBC, ABC, and CBS completely ignored the latest setback for ObamaCare after news broke Monday that around 115,000 people were expected to lose health insurance coverage at the end of September due to their failure to verify their legal status as United States citizens. Not only did CBS skip any mention of the bad news for President Obama's signature legislation, but on Tuesday's CBS This Morning , co-host Norah O'Donnell actually touted a good news story about the law in the New York Times : "Federal researchers say the number of uninsured Americans dropped by about 4 million to 41... continue reading
In a conversation on Twitter with Fox News Channel (FNC) contributor Richard Grenell, Boston Globe reporter Bryan Bender continued the media’s double standard of slamming then-President George W. Bush’s international coalition for the Iraq War and President Obama’s current coalition for fighting the Islamic terrorist group ISIS. Writing in a tweet addressed to Grenell, Bender stated that “Bush had no coalition” when going into Iraq. To that claim, Grenell cited how 48 countries were actually part of Bush’s “coalition of the willing” compared to the nine for President Obama’s ISIS coalition (as of Sunday morning). Upon numerous retweets and responses... continue reading
CBS and NBC continued to provide positive coverage of Hillary Clinton’s visit to Democratic Senator Tom Harkin’s steak fry event in Iowa on Monday night after both networks gushed over her appearance in their morning shows and NBC’s Meet the Press wondered on Sunday if she might not be liberal enough for Iowa Democrats in 2016. The nearly three minutes of coverage between the two networks was in comparison to their zero coverage of news from investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson that aides to Clinton when she was Secretary of State engaged in a weekend meeting that included the removal of... continue reading
In addition to 9/11 truther Rosie O'Donnell , two other hosts debuted on The View , Monday, moderate Republican Nicolle Wallace and liberal actress Rosie Perez . Wallace famously worked for – and then publicly trashed – Sarah Palin. Perez quizzed, "One, what was it like when you first met her? Two, did the winking get on your nerves? And three, when did you want to just pop her?" [MP3 audio here .] The former aide to John McCain was all too happy to begin her View tenure attacking other Republicans. Wallace joked, "When I first met her I just... continue reading
Charlie Rose has repeatedly fawned over his " friend " Hillary Clinton, even reading a poem to her. But when Rand Paul appeared on CBS This Morning , Monday, Rose and his co-hosts grilled the possible 2016 presidential contender. Citing the Washington Post , Gayle King derided, "You were described as an isolationist..." Norah O'Donnell also mentioned the September 14 Post story, highlighting "what they call your evolving views on some foreign policy issues." She also noted that in June, regarding ISIS, "you said 'I'm not sure where the clear-cut American interest is.' Then, now you're criticizing the President saying... continue reading
On Monday's CBS This Morning , Don Dahler played up how Pope Francis presiding at the wedding of 20 couples in St. Peter's Basilica is " yet another example of just how progressive [he] has been ." Dahler zeroed in on how "according to the Church, s ome of these couples are technically living in sin . Many have been living together prior to getting married, which is forbidden in Catholicism. Some even have children." The correspondent failed to mention, however, that the Pope used part of his sermon during the wedding to defend the Church's longstanding teaching that marriage... continue reading
In preparation for Democrats possibly losing control of the Senate in the midterm election, Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd and his panel actually tried to preemptively spin such a defeat as a good thing for the Democratic Party. On Sunday, Todd proclaimed: "What everybody in Washington knows but won't say, and that is, secretly... I'm convinced, I think we know this, Hillary Clinton would love to see the Senate in Republican hands going into 2016, wouldn't she?" [ Listen to the audio ] Politico's Jim VandeHei agreed: "I think a lot of Democrats would. They never say it in... continue reading
Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) sat down with Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd on Sunday, September 14, to promote his new book “The Way Forward” and was met with a barrage of questions challenging his conservative principles. Ryan appeared on Meet the Press’ Press Pass and was asked by Todd to comment on Governor Sam Brownback’s (R-Kan.) 2014 reelection bid. The NBC Political Director insisted that if Brownback “loses re-election, he’s going to essentially have lost because he cut taxes too much.” As Todd’s line of questioning continued, he asked Ryan “is there a point -- what happens to the... continue reading
After fretting on Sunday's Meet the Press that Hillary Clinton may not be liberal enough for 2016 Democratic caucus-goers in Iowa, on Monday's NBC Today , correspondent Andrea Mitchell eagerly touted the Clinton campaign machine: "This time, Clinton organizers say they've learned their lesson, busing in volunteers from all over the country." A clip played of Mitchell shouting a question to the former secretary of state: "Does it feel great to be back out here?" Clinton replied: "It's great. It was a great day. Couldn't have been better." To former President Bill Clinton, Mitchell enthused: "If she wants to, can... continue reading
The potshot of the weekend illustrates the visceral disgust in academia toward the Fox News Channel. If Franklin Roosevelt were a candidate or President today, FNC “would have loved” to show video of him “at his most helpless” – such as when he was carried or forced to have others attach and remove his leg braces. The potshot, on CBS’s Face the Nation , came from historian Geoffrey Ward, writer of PBS’s The Roosevelts : An Intimate History , which began a seven night run on Sunday. Appearing with his more famous collaborator, Ken Burns, Ward asserted on the September... continue reading
