On Friday’s edition of MSNBC’s NOW with Alex Wagner , former DNC Communications Director Karen Finney (and occasional MSNBC host) used the tragic death of Trayvon Martin to viciously attack Republicans across the country. The segment started out examining the role of gun laws in our society and quickly turned into an assault on Republicans, following comments made by liberal-host Wagner. Wagner made the claim that, “We had a map of the 25, 26 states with stand your ground laws. You can actually overlay a map of the red states in this country.” [MP3 audio here .] Finney maintained that... continue reading
On Friday's Good Morning America , Chris Cuomo interviewed the man convicted of "bias intimidation" against a gay college student who took his own life. Co-host Robin Roberts admitted, "... So many people believe this case went beyond the facts, that a clear message was trying to be sent here ." Cuomo, then touted the "message" that was sent. He began, "The agony, in this situation, for the families involved, for people like you who fight for victims' rights, is we need a message about bullying. It's pervasive." He added, "Then, this case comes. Finally, we get that message." The... continue reading
On Thursday's NBC Nightly News, anchor Brian Williams touted the handiwork of Planne d Parenthood's vicious attacks against the Susan G. Komen foundation: "The nation's largest breast cancer charity remains in turmoil tonight after a controversial attempt to cut off its funding of Planned Parenthood. Donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation are down sharply in many areas." NBC News, and Williams particularly, were quite complicit in furthering those attacks on Komen. On the February 1 broadcast , Williams declared: "A decision that's making a lot of women furious at the world's largest breast cancer organization. Why did it cut... continue reading
MSNBC analyst and Democratic strategist Karen Finney disgustingly smeared Rush Limbaugh and several Republican presidential candidates on Thursday, charging that the racist hate of these conservatives had "lethal consequences" in the case of Trayvon Martin, an African American teen shot in Florida. After decrying "bigotry and stereotypes tak[ing] over our better judgment," Finney sneeringly insisted that when "Rush Limbaugh calls a presidential candidate, Senator Barack Obama, a magic negro...In the case of Trayvon, those festering stereotypes had lethal consequences." [MP3 audio here .] Since MSNBC chose a Democratic operative to guest host the Martin Bashir show, it shouldn't be surprising... continue reading
On Thursday's CBS This Morning, Charlie Rose shamelessly boosted the Obama campaign's talking point about the economy: " The President will ... say, things are in much better shape ... so my policies are, at long last, working ." When Haley Barbour replied that " the liberal media leads you to think that the economy's getting great ," Rose sneered, " I didn't realize you think the Federal Reserve chairman is a liberal media elite " [audio available here ]. The CBS anchor also raised Mitt Romney aide Eric Fehrnstrom's recent "Etch-A-Sketch" comment with the former Mississippi governor: " You... continue reading
CNN's Piers Morgan and conservative actor Kirk Cameron are still clashing over their March 2 interview where Morgan pressed Cameron on his views of gay marriage and Cameron replied that homosexuality was "ultimately destructive" to civilization. That comment provoked a sharp outcry from liberal celebrities. Later on in an interview with the Daily Beast, Cameron called Morgan's interview tactics "heartless" and claimed that the actual interview was 10 minutes longer than what actually aired. "They didn't hear everything I said," he insisted, referring to the CNN audience. "[W]hat I said isn’t a full representation of how I feel about the... continue reading
On her eponymous MSNBC program on Wednesday, host Andrea Mitchell slammed congressional Republicans for voting down reauthorization and funding of the U.S. Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank: "If I'm sitting out there and watching this program, I would, you know, likely say right now these people in Congress are idiots." [ Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump ] Mitchell interviewed the bank's director, Fred Hochberg, and lobbed softballs: "What happens in the real world with an agency that is supposed to create jobs is going to have to lay people off if you don't get reauthorized?" What... continue reading
Eager to seize on an unfortunate Etch-A-Sketch analogy made by a Romney campaign a dvisor, on Thursday's NBC Today, co-host Ann Curry used all her cleverness to come up with this one-liner: "...a very mixed day for GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney. He picked up a key endorsement on Wednesday, but it's a campaign gaffe from a top aid that Romney's having a hard time shaking." In the report that followed, correspondent Peter Alexander declared: "Mitt Romney's critics have hounded him as a flip-flopper....[He's] on the defensive once again..." Alexander also joined in the mocking: "Who knew that classic toy could... continue reading
On Wednesday's NBC Nightly News, correspondent Chuck Todd filed a report in which he recounted verbal "flubs" of the Romney campaign, but, as he showed brief clips of past Romney statements, he neglected to provide the full context that would have made the clips seem less embarrassing. Anchor Brian Williams introduced Todd's report: Now we switch to the presidential campaign trail where, on the heels of a big win in Illinois just last night, Mitt Romney's campaign found itself once again fending off the damage from a self-inflicted wound, specifically a quote they he would like to have back right... continue reading
MSNBC can't even keep liberal politics out of sports. Nation sports editor Dave Zirin appeared on the cable network, Wednesday, to hyperventilate over the announcement that Tim Tebow has been traded to the New York Jets. Zirin berated, "...There are a lot of LGBT people that live in New York City who are also football fans and they might want to know why the new, possibly, starting quarterback for the New York Jets wants them to move backwards 30 or 40 years." Why does Tebow want to set gays back 40 years? Because he once did a very mild pro-life... continue reading
