In an interview aired Sunday for Meet the Press's Press Pass , host David Gregory teed up left-wing NBC political analyst Jonathan Alter to promote his new pro-Obama screed, The Center Holds: Obama and His Enemies : "...you write the following: 'A set of values that had been part of the American consensus since at least the New Deal would remain in place....The United States would remain a highly partisan and often gridlocked nation, but a centrist one.' Is that the emerging legacy of this president?" [ Listen to the audio ] Alter cheered the President's re-election: "I believe it... continue reading
On the Wednesday, July 3, The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell , MSNBC analyst Ezra Klein -- also of the Washington Post -- joined host O'Donnell in complaining that congressional Republicans refuse to help the Obama administration make changes to ObamaCare that even the administration has concerns about, with Klein charging that the GOP is trying to let the act fail "no matter how many people get hurt along the way." Klein: I also don't think it's great that the way we structure legislative process now, we can't make the American health care system any better because Republicans are hoping... continue reading
The journalists at Good Morning America on Monday offered an assist to liberal politicians trying to avoid being associated with the scandal-plagued former Governor of New York. While announcing Eliot Spitzer's return to public life, news reader Paula Faris avoided any mention of the fact that Spitzer is a Democrat. As she noted his bid to be New York City's comptroller, Faris simply referred to the "disgraced former governor of New York." Over on NBC's Today , correspondent Kristen Dahlgren hyped Spitzer as "the next comeback kid." [MP3 audio here .] Comparing the ex-governor to Anthony Weiner, Dahlgren enthused, "2013... continue reading
Appearing on Sunday's NBC Meet the Press , chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd blamed Republicans for ObamaCare beginning to collapse under its own weight: "...you could argue that there are some Republicans that are trying to sabotage the law, that they're hoping to not get it off the ground and then they can suddenly make the case, 'See, we've got to get rid of it.' And they've got some state governors that are openly trying to sabotage it." [ Listen to the audio ] Todd went on to attack Republican senators who protested an effort by the Obama administration... continue reading
How does a multi-millionaire plutocrat earn good press from the New York Times ? Apparently, espousing some of the far-Left's most radical economic theories is a good start. Friday morning's paper (B-1) featured an adoring profile of Warren Mosler, who reporter Annie Lowrey brands as a "card-carrying member of the 1 percent....But his prescriptions for economic policy make him sound like a warrior for the 99 percent." Lowrey, who visited Mosler in the U.S. Virgin Islands, explains: When the recession hit, Mr. Mosler said, the government should have spent and spent until unemployment came down to a comfortable level. Forget... continue reading
After touting a Texas legislator's "epic" pro-choice filibuster, the media have turned to hyping her future as a possible Democratic gubernatorial candidate in the state. MRC has already documented the adulation that the media showed for Texas Democratic legislator Wendy Davis after she filibustered to stop a pro-life bill from passing the state senate last Wednesday. And after the initial hype over her filibuster passed, the networks and cable news began tossing out the idea of her running for Texas governor in 2014. [Video below. Audio here .] MSNBC, predictably, was the first to jump on the Wendy Davis gubernatorial... continue reading
On Wednesday's Morning Edition , NPR's Wade Goodwyn trumpeted Wendy Davis' pro-abortion filibuster in the Texas State Senate as a " tiny ray of hope " for Democrats in the Lone Star State. Goodwyn ballyhooed how "Davis took to the floor in a desperate filibuster" against a pro-life bill, which he labeled " one of the nation's most restrictive abortion bills ." He later added that it was " as good a moment as Texas Democrats have had in 20 years ." The correspondent, a former leftist community organizer , also spotlighted the Battleground Texas effort, headed by former Obama... continue reading
CBS, NBC and ABC on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning highlighted the delay of the ObamaCare employer mandate as a "surprising," "significant setback" for the President. [See video below. MP3 audio here .] Nightly News anchor Brian Williams even went so far as to cynically note, " A development this big with the President on an airplane heading into a holiday weekend is going to make a lot of people suspicious ." Yet, these same networks ignored giant, glaring clues about what Democratic Senator Max Baucus once called the coming "train wreck." On Wednesday's Go od Morning America , Jon... continue reading
On CNN's Monday night special "The N Word," guest Tim Wise claimed that the Supreme Court used that racial slur against all black Americans through its rulings on the Voting Rights Act and affirmative action. "I mean, the reality is, we have a Supreme Court that in the last ten days has just basically called 40 million black folks that word without saying it by restricting or limiting the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and basically ending for all intent and purpose or, at least, limiting in many ways, affirmative action," Wise insisted. [Video below. Audio here .] The one-hour... continue reading
Far-left MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes on Monday night jokingly compared conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh to a repressive, brutal dictator. The host reported that Jennifer Lopez had preformed for Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. He then sneeringly compared, " Beyonce did sing at a new year's eve bash entertaining the family of Moammar Gadhafi and Elton John performed at fourth wedding of Rush Limbaugh ." Over the years, MSNBC has shown quite the obsession with smearing Limbaugh. In 2012, a guest on the network snarled that the conservative is like the " serial murderer " with "bodies in the trunk." In... continue reading
