Chris Matthews on Wednesday continued his assault on conservatives who oppose the funding of ObamaCare in the coming fiscal showdown, sneering that the "looney tunes" Republicans want to "kill the recovery." The Hardball anchor, who recently lost his 5pm slot and now can only be seen at 7pm, also bizarrely linked this to the President of Starbucks asking gun owners not to open carry in stores. Refusing to even consider the legitimacy of conservatives, Matthews lectured, " I don't even think it's right to call it politics in the sane sense. There are dozens on the right who are deliberately... continue reading
The three networks on Thursday morning allowed a scant 65 seconds to Senator John McCain's "blistering" op-ed published in the communist newspaper Pravda , featuring a call for freedom and tolerance in Russia. Although ABC, CBS and NBC quickly summarized the Senator's international rebuttal to Vladimir Putin's New York Times op-ed, the morning shows offered the briefest of quotes and mostly portrayed the piece as a grudge match with Putin. CBS This Morning devoted just 19 seconds to the "blistering opinion piece." Rose narrated, "[McCain] accuses Russian President Vladimir Putin of corruption and repression." Good Morning America's Josh Elliott allowed... continue reading
ABC, CBS and NBC have so far refused to report the latest bombshell in the IRS scandal - a newly released list from the agency that showed it flagged political groups for “anti-Obama rhetoric.” On September 18 the USA Today , in a front page story, reported the following: “Newly uncovered IRS documents show the agency flagged political groups based on the content of their literature, raising concerns specifically about ‘anti-Obama rhetoric,’ inflammatory language and ‘emotional’ statements made by non-profits seeking tax-exempt status.” Not only have ABC, CBS and NBC not reported this story they’ve flat out stopped covering the... continue reading
Are film references a prerequisite for a 5pm ET show on MSNBC? Ed Schultz, who took over for movie-mad Chris Matthews, on Wednesday compared Barack Obama to George C. Scott's portrayal of General Patton. Schultz attacked House Republicans for disparaging ObamaCare and not allowing supporters of the President's health care reform to testify. The anchor salivated, "Can we say that President Obama has 'em exactly where he wants 'em?" He added, " You know, it kind of reminds me of that 1971 movie Patton... General Patton was in the field...and he was watching Rommel bring his tanks into a trap... continue reading
CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King asked former Obama chief of staff William Daley on Wednesday if the gun industry is putting profits ahead of people's lives. "They're protecting an industry. They're protecting big profits. And that's what it's about," Daley slammed the gun industry. King then teed him up: "This is more important than human lives?" [Video below. Audio here .] Daley answered yes, "To many people, money is more important than human lives and that's what the disgrace of this thing is." In CBS's lengthy interview with Daley that spanned multiple issues, King framed her first question around... continue reading
PBS anchor Judy Woodruff asked a question on Monday’s NewsHour that perfectly captured the modern liberal mentality about government spending and debt. During a taped interview with former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, Woodruff asked: [MP3 audio here .] "A number of prominent members of your party, the Republican Party, who are [sic] today arguing that the real problem the economy faces is the government and government debt, and a number of them are talking about using the debt ceiling as an instrument to keep government spending down. Is the debt limit an appropriate tool to use to do that? "... continue reading
CBS and ABC on Wednesday trotted out the same tired warning of a "pay gap" between men and women, deeming it "ridiculous" that anyone could possibly disagree with the talking points put forth by feminists such as Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda. CBS This Morning featured the two liberal women, as well as another feminist for a one-sided harangue about females in the workplace. Norah O'Donnell hyped, "Last year women earned 76.5 cents to every dollar a man makes. Why does that still exist?" [MP3 audio here .] None of the hosts questioned the legitimacy of the pay gap. Instead,... continue reading
Time magazine has named long-time veteran Nancy Gibbs as the new Managing Editor now that Richard Stengel has (officially) joined the Obama administration. In the official announcement, Time Inc. editor-in-chief Martha Nelson declared Gibbs was “one of the most published writers in the history of the magazine, having been an essayist and lead writer on virtually every major news event of the past two decades.” Gibbs has also been one of the most embarrassing writers of faux-literary liberal goop in the history of “news magazines.” It's not exactly positive when Stengel declared , "No one personifies Time more than Nancy... continue reading
Near the end of the Tuesday, September 17, All In show, MSNBC host Chris Hayes took a moment to read and display two viewer responses to his question of what they would like to see in "actual comprehensive gun safety legislation," and included one over the top viewer who not only wanted nearly all guns banned, but desired that the National Rifle Association be "dissolved and made illegal." Hayes began: Earlier in the show, we asked you, "If politics were no obstacle, what would actual comprehensive gun safety legislation look like?" He continued: We got a ton of answers posted... continue reading
Three times on Tuesday morning, CNN mentioned sequester cuts as a possible culprit behind the security breach at the Navy Yard that led to Monday's shooting there. A CNN headline actually read " Did Government Cuts Put Lives at Risk? " This came after a former Navy commander warned on CNN that blaming the sequester was "very premature." And just before noon, correspondent Dana Bash reported that "what I've been told is the answer is absolutely not" as to the sequester having a role in the security breach. [Video below. Audio here .] Anchor Carol Costello twice cited D.C.'s Democratic... continue reading
