The journalists at Good Morning America on Monday hyped a puff piece on whether Hillary Clinton will run for President in 2016, but ignored a critical look at the Clinton Global Initiative and its brewing scandal. Instead, reporter Dan Harris promoted a New York magazine story on the former Secretary of State. He quoted the possible presidential contender on her relationship with Bill: " We laugh at our dogs. We watch stupid movies. We take long walks. We go for a swim. You know, just ordinary, everyday pleasures ." [MP3 audio here .] Harris made sure to point out that... continue reading
Throughout Friday morning's coverage of the House vote on the continuing resolution (CR), CNN repeatedly slapped Republicans for supposedly risking a government shutdown to defund Obamacare. A CNN chyron even stated that they were voting on a "shutdown," though that is inaccurate since the bill voted on would still fund the government, just not Obamacare. Below is the worst of CNN's contempt for House Republicans who voted to defund Obamacare. [Video below. Audio here .] "The Inmates Are Running the Asylum" "Even for Speaker Boehner, who is a consummate dealmaker, what we have got now is a situation where the... continue reading
PBS put its late-night leftism on display on Meet the Press when PBS host Tavis Smiley used his slot, on the Sunday morning NBC News show’s panel, to regret President Barack Obama’s supposed touting of “American Exceptionalism” and claim the presumed desire of conservatives in the House, to shut down the federal government, means “we are going to lose our democracy. It’s that serious.” Smiley fretted that “the President recently, much to my chagrin, spoke of, advanced once again, this notion of American Exceptionalism, and clearly he isn’t the only one in town who likes to push that notion that... continue reading
The Big Three broadcast networks made their slanted priorities clear on their Thursday evening newscasts, as they fawned over Caroline Kennedy's Senate confirmation hearing earlier that day, but failed to cover the emotional congressional testimony of Pat Smith. Smith is the mother of Sean Smith, who died in the 2012 Islamist attack on the U.S. post in Benghazi, Libya. ABC's Martha Raddatz was awestruck over JFK's daughter: " For one brief shining moment, senators from both sides of the aisle seemed to harken back to the so-called Camelot days ." NBC's Harry Smith gushed that " history and legacy were... continue reading
The network morning shows on Friday derided the move by House Republicans to defund ObamaCare as simply "bowing to demands" from the Tea Party. But it was CBS's Bob Schieffer who made no attempt to restrain his contempt, declaring the ObamaCare fight "over" and linking GOP members to elderly Japanese veterans of World War II who refused to accept that the fight was futile. After noting that the Wall Street Journal derided the plan as a kamikaze move, the Face the Nation anchor built on the analogy, sneering, " But even more apt...way on into the 1950s when they go... continue reading
Back in 2010, when ex-House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was convicted on money laundering charges related to campaign fundraising, all three network morning and evening news shows made sure to tell their viewers. But Thursday night and Friday morning, after an appeals court overturned that verdict and completely acquitted DeLay of those charges, none of the broadcast networks bothered to even mentioned the former Republican leader’s exoneration. On their November 24, 2010 evening newscasts, all three networks made gave time to the late-breaking news, accompanied by photos of DeLay with various captions: “Guilty Verdict” on ABC; “Convicted” on CBS; “Guilty”... continue reading
After framing a doctor's plea to end gun violence as a push for gun control earlier this week, NBC's Today teed up D.C.'s police chief to defend the city's strict gun regulations and slap gun "loopholes." In a segment on the Navy Yard shooter, correspondent Jeff Rossen transitioned into gun control. " You have fought hard for gun control. Yet here is somebody who is clearly mentally disturbed, but he was still able to legally get a gun. What's wrong here? " he asked D.C. police chief Cathy Lanier. [Video below. Audio here .] "She wants the loopholes closed," Rossen... continue reading
CNN has all but ignored a new report that according to IRS documents, the agency gave extra scrutiny to 162 political groups – 80 percent of them conservative – that were seeking tax-exempt status. A USA Today report stated that the IRS "flagged" groups based on "'anti-Obama rhetoric', inflammatory language and 'emotional' statements." CNN briefly mentioned the bombshell report once, on Wednesday's Early Start at 5:08 a.m. ET. The network has ignored the report since, moving to join the networks in their blackout . " More than 80% of the organizations on the 2011 'political advocacy case' list were conservative... continue reading
CNN's Brooke Baldwin had some stunningly ignorant analysis on Thursday about the opposition to ObamaCare in Congress. "Congress passes a law, in this case ObamaCare, and then some of its members turn around and essentially try to sabotage it. Again, I repeat, it's a law. Certainly not the way the Founding Fathers maybe drew this thing up ," she argued. [Video below. Audio here .] First of all, not a single Republican voted for ObamaCare in 2010, and many current Republicans opposing the law's funding were elected several months after ObamaCare passed, so no Republican voted for ObamaCare and now... continue reading
On Wednesday's CBS Evening News and Thursday's CBS This Morning , Nancy Cordes repeatedly played up how an unidentified Republican in the U.S. Senate attacked a House proposal to de-fund ObamaCare as " suicide ". Cordes underlined that "Speaker Boehner was forced into the risky strategy by his right flank ", and wondered if the plan was " just a recipe for a government shutdown ". Norah O'Donnell picked up where the correspondent left off, asserting that "there feels like something new about this fight this time...and that is that the Senate Republicans are saying to their colleagues in the... continue reading
