Bethany Whitlock, Philanthropic Advisor, Great Lakes/Plains region
As the Philanthropic Advisor, Great Lakes/Plains region, Bethany stewards relationships with conservative-minded philanthropists and assists them in meeting their charitable investment goals.
Before joining the MRC in 2015, Bethany earned her conservative bona fides working first for Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN) and then the National Center for Public Policy Research, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting free-market solutions and a strong national defense.
Bethany attended Tennessee’s Bryan College, which, interestingly, was founded by Williams Jennings Bryan (after the Scopes Trial) “to teach truth from a Biblical perspective."
Bethany is married to Scott Whitlock, an editor at MRC’s NewsBusters, and they just welcomed their first child in June.
Aside from rooting for her donors to get big returns on their investments, Bethany cheers on her favorite football teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and University of Tennessee Volunteers.
When left to her own devices, you might catch Bethany watching one of her favorite TV programs, “Marvel’s Agents of Shield,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” or, for the “100th time,” the BBC’s 1995 version of “Pride and Prejudice.”
Bethany has many talents, including a unique and awe-inspiring multitasking skill: She can hold a conversation with someone while simultaneously typing an email or letter on an entirely different topic.
