The Media Research Center, a conservative media analysis non-profit, is seeking an Assistant Editor for MRC Free Speech, monitoring Big Tech censorship of conservative voices, including editing, publishing, disseminating blogs and writing about online censorship and tech issues.
This is a full-time opportunity requires strong news judgment, multimedia skills and a solid understanding of social media and tech/tech policy as it relates to conservative ideas and the conservative movement. Candidate should be self-motivated, deadline- and detail-oriented and well-organized. Candidate must also possess leadership qualities and have solid editing skills.

Responsibilities include: (1) assisting supervisory editors in editing and other day-to-day operations; (2) assisting with website development; (3) assisting in designing and building a tech hub for the website; (4) monitoring and reporting with numbers-based analysis to highlight the ongoing threat of online censorship against the right; (5) producing, distributing and marketing written and video content defending conservative free speech online with a focus on analyzing academic research reports that are used to target the right; (6) producing specialty research blogs in conjunction with outside experts in the tech field; (7) coordinating with other MRC departments to promote MRCT content and partner where appropriate; (8) reaching out to appropriate conservative groups about major reports and encouraging distribution of MRCT content; and (9) integrating social media into regular messaging as a way to maximize reach for MRCT. Position is not eligible for telecommuting.
A four-year college degree, and journalism training and journalism experience is required. At least 3-5 years of professional online print reporting and/or editing experience is preferred. Must be an active user of social media.
