Yet another case study in how the liberal media never stop pushing their own interpretation of events: In a May 22 This Week roundtable about the arrest of IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn for the alleged sexual assault of a female hotel worker, two journalists endorsed it as France's "Anita Hill moment," referring to the last-minute claims raised against conservative Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas nearly 20 years ago. But Hill never alleged that Thomas did anything either violent or criminal - and polls taken at the time (USA Today, October 14, 1991) showed the public sided with Clarence Thomas over... continue reading
On Monday's Today on NBC, correspondent Norah O'Donnell excitedly touted President Obama's stop in Ireland on his latest European trip as she proclaimed: "The Irish eyes are smiling today as this country welcomes President Obama. And I can tell you that the people here in Moneygall are overjoyed that Obama has Irish roots." The report opened with a musical rendition of 'There's no one as Irish as Barack Obama,' as O'Donnell described how "Obama's ancestral hometown....got a face lift, a fresh coat of paint and an Obama Café." After discovering from a local priest that Obama's Irish ancestors were well-off... continue reading
What does it say about incoming Today show co-anchor Ann Curry that even her friends in the liberal media make fun of her? Time's managing editor Richard Stengel, did just that, in his Saturday speech to students at Wheaton College when he poked fun at Curry's confused commencement speech at that same college last year. During that address Curry got the Wheaton College in Massachusetts mixed up with the college of the same name in Springfield, Illinois. The mistake actually wasn't that surprising given the fact that Curry once needed her colleague Chuck Todd's help to find the state of... continue reading
All three morning shows on Monday bombarded Tim Pawlenty with a variety of liberal complaints and demands. ABC and NBC singled out an Obama-supporting "Republican" who slammed the presidential candidate's fiscal management of Minnesota. CBS repeatedly lobbied Pawlenty to raise taxes. Good Morning America's George Stephanopoulos identified ex-Minnesota Governor Arne Carlson as "one of your Republican predecessors." He quoted Carlson as saying, "I don't think any governor has left behind a worse financial mess than Pawlenty has." Stephanopoulos made no mention of the fact that Carlson endorsed Barack Obama in 2008 or that he was officially expelled from the Minnesota... continue reading
NBC's Andrea Mitchell on Sunday conceded "Paul Ryan has shown considerable guts" with his Medicare plan, but she declared liberal Democratic Congressman Chris Van Hollen is "correct that nobody on the Republican side is showing any courage on the tax front. And unless taxes are part of the mix," NBC's chief foreign correspondent insisted in repeating the standard media refrain, "every grown-up knows" a deficit solution cannot be achieved. The Washington Post 's Eugene Robinson soon picked up the liberal agenda, regretting "Republicans will not talk about tax increases" while Democrats, supposedly, "talk about a lot of budget cuts." Mitchell's... continue reading
On Sunday's World News, ABC correspondent David Kerley mocked the current field of GOP presidential candidates as making comedians "happy" as he recounted that polls show many Republicans are not satisfied with the choices available so far. After informing viewers of the disappointment for Republicans that Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels had chosen not to run, Kerley continued: "Recent polls show that nearly half of Republican voters are not happy with their potential candidates. But comedians are." Then came a clip of late night talk show host David Letterman: "The Republicans are really scrambling out there, really backs to the wall... continue reading
While President Obama has been hit by black leftists for failing to help unemployed African-Americans, CNN anchor Carol Costello offered an impassioned defense of the president Friday morning, framing most every question to cast Obama in the best light possible. Hosting the liberal Columbia University professor Mark Lamont Hill, a self-proclaimed "leading hip-hop generation intellectual," Costello repeatedly sought to generate pity for the president. "Aren't we expecting a little too much of him?" Costello pouted during the 10 a.m. EDT hour. To be fair, Costello also scrutinized rapper Kanye West's accusation post-Katrina that President Bush didn't care about black people... continue reading
Good Morning America co-anchor George Stephanopoulos conducted a confrontational interview with possible Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman on Friday, challenging the moderate governor from the right on spending and on the former Utah governor's praise of Barack Obama. Stephanopoulos highlighted Huntsman's work for the Obama administration as ambassador to China: " The President is also a person, a particular person, President Barack Obama. You wrote to him saying, calling him a 'remarkable leader.' Do you stand by that? " After the Republican dodged, Stephanopoulos even followed up: "Do you believe he's a remarkable leader and are you in sync with... continue reading
Anyone who was watching certain news outlets on Thursday probably heard almost nothing about one of the most offensive political advertisements in recent memory. That's because most major networks have largely failed to cover a video portraying Rep. Paul Ryan's budget plan as literally throwing grandma off a cliff. While ABC, MSNBC, and CNN continue to ignore the left-wing attack ad, these same outlets wasted no time excoriating Sharron Angle's controversial immigration ad during the 2010 cycle. The video, which shows a frightened elderly woman being steered off a cliff by the House Budget Chairman, parrots the liberal meme that... continue reading
Ending her final night as anchor of the CBS Evening News with a "five years in five minutes" video retrospective, Katie Couric went out in sync with how she conducted herself since 2006 - challenging and discrediting conservatives while providing a platform to liberals to disparage conservatives. Her Thursday night highlight package began with Couric pressing President George W. Bush in 2006: "Is there anything that you wish you had done differently?" From there, CBS jumped to actor Michael Fox: "I could give a damn about Rush Limbaugh's opinion." After clips on wild fires, steroids and the Virginia Tech shooting,... continue reading
