Appearing Friday before the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations , the CEO and CFO of Solyndra both invoked their fifth amendment right against self-incrimination. But instead of highlighting the cover-up in the scandal of the $535 million federal loan trumpeted by the Obama administration to the solar panel manufacturer which went bankrupt, neither ABC nor NBC mentioned the development Friday night and CBS allocated a mere 25 seconds. 'Images of its executives taking the Fifth today are not the optics the White House had hoped for,' NBC's Lisa Myers noted on Friday's Today show, a... continue reading
On Friday's Early Show, CBS's Erica Hill advocated for a liberal pet cause, urging Michele Bachmann to allow children of illegal aliens to receive in-state college tuition. Hill also spotlighted Gov. Rick Perry's attack on his competitors in the GOP presidential race on this issue: "Basically, [Perry is] saying to the other eight folks on the stage there, including yourself, that you don't have a heart ." The anchor raised the immigration issue towards the end of her interview of the Minnesota representative. Hill first quoted Gov. Perry's line on the in-state tuition issue from the previous night's debate: "He... continue reading
Two polls released Thursday show the public now sees the media as liberal, biased, inaccurate, untrustworthy, harmful to democracy and even immoral . A poll of 1501 adults conducted by the Pew Research Center found a record high 63% said the media were 'politically biased in their reporting,' vs. just 25% who felt reporters were 'careful that their reporting was not politically biased.' And a Gallup poll of 1017 adults found the public detected liberal bias by a nearly three-to-one margin: 'The majority of Americans (60%) also continue to perceive bias, with 47% saying the media are too liberal and... continue reading
ABC's Good Morning America touted Chelsea Clinton's appearance at the Clinton Global Initiative in a fawning segment Friday. Former Clinton advisor George Stephanopoulos termed it "that rare turn in the spotlight for Chelsea Clinton," and ABC did its level best to get the word out. Correspondent Dan Harris lauded Bill and Hillary Clinton as "two of the most powerful people in the world" but made sure to note their daughter Chelsea's intelligence and growing profile. He even went so far as to report a Facebook comment saying she should run for President. "Chelsea's profile has been pretty high lately. She... continue reading
ABC and CBS on Friday skipped any coverage of a congressional investigation into Solyndra and the appearance of its two top executives to plead the Fifth. Only NBC's Today show provided an in-depth look at the now bankrupt green company and the loans given to it by the Obama administration. Today reporter Lisa Myers noted that taxpayers stand to lose up to half a billion dollars. She explained, " So, images of its executives taking the Fifth today are not the optics the White House had hoped fo r." Good Morning America and Early Show kept Americans from seeing those... continue reading
Interviewing former Vice President Dick Cheney at the Reagan library, CNN's John King recalled how former President George H.W. Bush 'made an incredibly tough personal and political choice' to raise taxes. King touted how Bush 'had the courage knowing it might cost him re-election.' As he and Cheney sat overlooking the Air Force One Pavilion , King pointed to Bush as a model for Republicans today: 'There are some people now saying that we need a moment like that and that the Republicans should give President Obama some tax increases as long as they get from him significant spending cuts... continue reading
CBS's Erica Hill lauded homosexual activist Dan Savage, the mastermind of an Internet smear campaign against Rick Santorum, as a " tireless advocate " for bullied schoolchildren on Thursday's Early Show. The Big Three networks all turned to Savage as their "expert" for their Wednesday and Thursday coverage of high school freshman Jamey Rodemeyer's suicide, but only The Early Show brought him on. Hill's radical guest, who revealed his torture fantasy against the Republican in July 2011, founded an online campaign called the It Gets Better Project, where Rodemeyer posted an online video in May. The anchor began by claiming... continue reading
On Thursday's American Morning, CNN regarded Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry's newest web-ad as using "patriotism as a political tool." Co-host Carol Costello lumped his ad in with the 2004 Swift Boat campaign, as an unfair accusation to make of his opponent's patriotism. Perry's newest web-ad attacks Obama's jobs record and his "apology tour" for America, and trumpets Perry's own patriotism. Costello then lumped that in with the Swift Boat campaign of 2004 which questioned the war heroism of candidate John Kerry. Although it was a legitimate story , it has been regarded by the liberal media as a smear... continue reading
While CNN gave two tough interviews to Palin-bashing author Joe McGinniss, HLN's Joy Behar joked around with him on her Wednesday show. She referenced his newest tome on Sarah Palin and her family, full of nasty gossip and rumors, and jokingly asked "What, do you have a death wish, Joe?" In the previous segment, Behar had made fun of Rush Limbaugh's past drug abuse in her interview with Levi Johnston. "Your mother was selling Oxycontin?" she asked Johnston. "What's she – what's up with that? Does she know Rush Limbaugh?" Not finished with her fun, the HLN host had a... continue reading
Former New York Times Supreme Court reporter Linda Greenhouse really let her liberal feelings show in her online column Wednesday, ' Breaking News: The Civil War Is Over ,' in which she linked opposition to the constitutionality of Obama-care to the U.S. Confederacy. Greenhouse, who notoriously delivered a left-wing commencement speech at Harvard in June 2006, while still a reporter for the Times, was also offended to the core at a bumper sticker opposing national health care: 'I don't understand the moral compass of the owner of the fancy car I saw the other day that sported the bumper sticker:... continue reading
