Keith Olbermann, ousted from MSNBC and even Al Gore’s Current TV, was nevertheless invited to join the roundtable on Sunday’s (April 22) ABC This Week , where he spouted about how rising gas prices are supposedly the result a “deliberate” conspiratorial effort to damage President Obama: The lowest price in the last six years – the nadir of gas prices at the pump – was the day of this President’s inauguration in 2009. There has to be some connection between that being the least busy political moment of a President’s career – where you’re not going to hurt him, you’re... continue reading
An unhinged Chris Matthews on Monday excoriated Republican primary voters as racist, deriding them as the "Grand Wizard crowd." Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele fought back, slamming "this Grand Wizard nonsense." "Don't go there with me," he warned. [MP3 audio here .] After Steele informed the Hardball anchor that subjects such as climate change weren't big issues in the GOP primary, Matthews slimed, " It certainly was in the Grand Wizard crowd over there. " The liberal host tried to move on, but his guest stopped the conversation dead: "Wait, I resent that! No. Come on. What is... continue reading
Over the last few decades, the liberal media have celebrated Earth Day and used it to spread the gospel of green liberalism. CNN's Sunday reporting was no exception as the network touted public figures headlining an Earth Day rally in Washington, D.C., like the city's Democratic Mayor Vincent Gray and the rock band Cheap Trick. However, for the March for Life rally in January that was attended by at least tens of thousands of pro-lifers, CNN gave it two brief mentions on-air. In contrast, while reportedly only hundreds showed up to celebrate Earth Day on the National Mall, CNN touted... continue reading
Journalist Grandson of Socialist Presidential Candidate: 'We Can't Pay' for Welfare State 'Any More'
Even liberal journalist and Politico contributor Evan Thomas has finally figured out that socialism is an unsustainable system, as he boldly proclaimed on this weekend’s syndicated Inside Washington : “The welfare state is something we can’t pay for any more.” The admission by the one-time Newsweek managing editor and co-author of the infamous Feb. 16, 2009 cover story, “We Are All Socialists Now,” probably had his grandfather and six-time Socialist Party of America presidential candidate Norman Thomas , rolling over in his grave. During a discussion about possible political perils for Barack Obama, on the April 20 edition of Inside... continue reading
NBC News President Admits Network Should Have Corrected on Air the Falsely Edited Zimmerman 911 Call
In a stunning admission to the New York Time's David Carr on Monday, NBC News president Steve Capus confessed that the network made a mistake in not issuing a correction on air for falsely editing a 911 call by accused Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman: "The reality is that we didn't try to hide from it...I did interviews with a lot of publications to get the message out, but we probably should have done it on our own air." Carr related his conversation with Capus to readers: "Mr. Capus said that they were so busy cleaning up the mess 'inside... continue reading
Six months ago, Pew's Project for Excellence in Journalism (PEJ) came out with a report claiming that the GOP candidates received more positive press coverage than President Obama. Monday morning, the group came out with another installment from the same ongoing study. Their press release claims: "The President’s media coverage in 2012 has been consistently negative while his Republican challenger has experienced a more mixed narrative." As MRC documented in October, PEJ's methodology is serio u sly flawed : "First, they didn’t study what most people would consider 'the media.' Second, their definition of 'positive' and 'negative' press doesn’t match... continue reading
During a report for the April 18 edition of NBC's Rock Center , corresponden t Ted Koppel was right at home with French socialist campaign workers: "...it is the Socialist campaign directed by these three young men, Vincent, Arthur and Guillaume, that has the distinctly American flavor." Guillaume declared: "We've been pushin g this, you know, let's do what Obama did for two years." At the same time, only seconds earlier, Koppel touted attacks against current French President Nicolas Sarkozy for being too American: "This US-style rally is one reason that President Sarkozy's rivals call him La American, 'the American.'... continue reading
ABC reporter and global warming enthusiast Bill Blakemore on Sunday condescendingly dismissed climate change skeptics as "denialists." In a piece on ABCNews.com , he called for yet more advocacy on the part of journalists. After noting that confidence in the science of climate change has varied from year to year, Blakemore huffed that these beliefs "don't seem to be responding all that much, [Professor Jon Krosnick] says, to whatever the global warming denialist campaigns may have been doing ." Blakemore then lectured meteorologists for not being biased enough: A number of America’s TV meteorologists and other broadcast weatherpersons have been... continue reading
The Media Research Center has just concluded an update of our “ Media Bias 101 ” Web package, with more than 40 articles detailing scholarly research of the past 30 years showing the mostly liberal attitudes of American journalists and opinion polls showing the public’s growing recognition of the media’s liberal bias. The package also includes dozens of quotes from reporters denying this bias, plus a few notable instances of media figures admitting their tilt. We can expect media bias to be big news this year. Going into the 2012 campaign, a Pew Research Center poll found a record high... continue reading
TV star Cybill Shepherd went on a radical feminist bender on Friday's CBS This Morning, touting that there really is a "war on women" manifested by the " attack on Planned Parenthood ." Anchor Gayle King had to cut her off, as Shepherd inserted her diatribe at the end of the segment, but revealed her sympathies with her guest: " I think you're raising a good point. We just need more time to do it." The far left actress made her devotion to the pro-abortion cause clear, and hinted that pro-lifers were so extreme that they would try to kill... continue reading
