George Stephanopoulos was so enthusiastic towards Robert Redford and his sympathetic new film about an ex-1960s radical that the actor enthused, "You ought to get on the marketing team!" The aging actor/director appeared on Tuesday's Good Morning America and endorsed the violent actions of protest groups. Reminiscing on his own past, the liberal Hollywood star recounted, "When I was younger, I was very much aware of the movement. I was more than sympathetic, I was probably empathetic because I believed it was time for a change." After Stephanopoulos wondered, "Even when you read about bombings," Redford responded, "All of it... continue reading
NBC's Andrea Mitchell, on Tuesday's Today show, got a very early start on hyping Hillary Clinton for President as she touted Clinton as a "star attraction." Acting more like a talent agent promoting her client, Mitchell plugged Clinton's first major public appearances and noted that "one-thousand days from Iowa" the former Secretary of State would be "formidable" if she runs again for President. Mitchell began her piece announcing that both Clinton and fellow 2016 contender Vice President Joe Biden would appear at a Kennedy Center event for a woman's organization called Vital Voices Global Partnership but underlined it was Clinton... continue reading
Does Chris Matthews have a new Democrat to give him a "thrill" up his leg? On Monday, the Hardball anchor praised Hillary Clinton's stature leading up to a hypothetical 2016 run as the most impressive since General Eisenhower in 1952. Dwight Eisenhower was the Supreme Allied Commander in World War II, oversaw D-Day and defeated the world-wide threat of the Nazis. Clinton, on the other hand, has been a politician and the Secretary of State during the disaster in Benghazi. The 67-year-old Matthews reminisced about seeing a newsreel of Eisenhower at a movie theater. His dad informed him that Ike... continue reading
The Big Three networks' morning and evening newscasts still haven't covered the murder trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell as of Monday morning. ABC, CBS, and NBC have maintained their coverage blackout despite the graphic witness testimony and the in-your-face courtroom antics of Dr. Gosnell's defense attorney during the first two weeks of the proceedings. The Philadelphia physician is charged with murdering seven newborn children at his decrepit abortion facility. This glaring omission by the broadcast networks would have continued, if Peggy Noonan hadn't provided the first mention of the murder trial on Sunday's Meet the Press on NBC. The Wall... continue reading
The reporters and hosts of Good Morning America really want you to know something: Don Young is a Republican. The ABC morning show on Saturday featured 11 mentions of the Congressman's party affiliation in a span of just two minutes. Young referred to "wetbacks" in an interview last week. An ABC graphic blared, "Congressman uses racist term." Co-host Bianna Golodryga insisted that "this comment has created quite the headache for Republicans." Reporter Jeff Zeleny lectured, " The Republican Party's effort to rebuild and rebrand its image is colliding this morning with the party's old guard ." [MP3 audio here .]... continue reading
In 2006, Joe Biden, then a powerful U.S. senator and future vice president, smeared Indian Americans as mostly working at the convenience store 7-11. At the time, NBC (and the other networks) completely ignored the story . This week, when obscure Republican Congressman Don Young referred to Hispanic migrant workers as "wetbacks," NBC's Today show devoted a full segment to the story. Reporter Kelly O'Donnell on Friday explained how the Alaska Representative gave an interview to a local radio station and "used an offensive slur to describe" some Latinos. She then took this as an excuse to highlight the GOP... continue reading
On Thursday, George Stephanopoulos touted how legalizing same-sex "marriage" would supposedly bring in additional revenue into the federal government's coffers. The former Clinton administration official claimed that " the Treasury would actually take in more money if gays and lesbians were allowed to get married and get federal benefits ." Stephanopoulos cited an eight-plus year old study from the Congressional Budget Office that found that redefining marriage to include homosexual couples " could bring in up to $1 billion a year – so, a net benefit for the Treasury from gay marriage ." The ABC anchor devoted part of an... continue reading
Chris Matthews on Thursday took a break from comparing conservatives to Nazis and instead compared them to movie Nazis. The Hardball anchor opened the program by referencing the classic movie Casablanca . In this example, Barack Obama is the good guy and the Second Amendment supporters are the Nazis. Matthews spewed, " You know that scene in Casablanca when the French police captain shoots the Nazi, Major Strasser, and Humphrey Bogart does the right thing by Ingrid Bergman, and the anti-Nazi hero Victor Laszlo says 'Welcome back to the fight, Rick' ?" In case anyone was unclear on the comparison,... continue reading
While CNN claims to be non-partisan , anchors have been openly expressing their favor for same-sex marriage and advocating the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Host Piers Morgan and anchor Don Lemon even descended into smearing opponents of same-sex marriage as "homophobic" and akin to segregationists. On Wednesday, Morgan tweeted , " What politicians are beginning to realise - hardly anyone under 30 is homophobic. #RIPDOMA ". He added "RIP #DOMA....you will not be missed, no flowers necessary." [Video below. Audio here .] Lemon, as NewsBusters reported , linked opponents of same-sex marriage to opponents of interracial... continue reading
Nightline co-anchor Terry Moran on Sunday lashed out at the "paranoid," Orwellian theories of gun owners who fear what Barack Obama will do to the Second Amendment. Moran appeared with Republican strategist Karl Rove on This Week and mocked the former Bush aide for denouncing creating a gun registry. After Rove insisted that current gun control proposals wouldn't have stopped the Sandy Hook massacre, Moran sneered, " You're scaring people with this Orwellian sense that black helicopters and the government if we register guns are going to confiscate Americans' guns ." He added, "That kind of paranoia fuels" fear. An... continue reading
