On his Thursday show, CNN's Piers Morgan compared the NRA's Wayne LaPierre to conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and drew parallels between the current gun debate and the civil rights and drunk driving debates of decades ago. When guest Margaret Hoover described America's "gun culture," Morgan interjected, " There was a racist culture, there was a drunk-driving culture. " Even liberal Marc Lamont Hill was taken aback. "A Southern gun owner is not like a Klan member. I mean, come on," he admonished Morgan, who claimed "I'm not saying they are." [Video below. In a stunning example of how desperate the liberal media are to defend President Obama against the numerous scandals rocking his administration, on her Friday MSNBC show, host Andrea Mitchell actually justified the Justice Department targeting journalists: "I think if they had framed it...as this is national security, these were leaks in really major cases, everyone knows how unpopular the media are, far more unpopular." [ Listen to the audio ] Mitchell further explained: "The American people have said in a number of polls how they feel about this. They feel that national security is more important than First Amendment... continue reading
For a second night on Thursday, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell on his The Last Word show tried to blame NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre for inspiring the ricin-tainted letters recently sent to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and President Barack Obama. The MSNBC host teased the show: Well, turns out that when the NRA says that President Obama and Mayor Bloomberg are enemies of the Constitution, some very crazy people actually believe that. O'Donnell began the show by playing clips of LaPierre from the NRA convention in Houston criticizing Bloomberg and Obama. After updating viewers of the letters sent... continue reading
The hosts and analysts on MSNBC sunk to a new low on Friday, trashing the late Charlton Heston as somehow responsible for attempted ricin attacks on Michael Bloomberg and Barack Obama. After Now anchor Alex Wagner read excerpts from letters allegedly written by the man responsible for the poisonous mailings, guest David Corn snarled, " When you were quoting the letters that were sent, I was thinking, it sounds like Charlton Heston wrote these ." [MP3 audio here. ] Speaking of the National Rifle Association, Corn impugned, "It doesn't surprise me that some unhinged individuals out there start to take... continue reading
Appearing on Friday's NBC Today to push his new 448-page love letter to President Obama about the 2012 election – laughably titled, The Center Holds – left-wing Bloomberg columnist Jonathan Alter gushed: "I think this is, you know, partly just to place this in the history of this country. It was an extraordinarily important election....And I think there's also a personal lesson from Barack Obama, and that's of perseverance..." [ Listen to the audio ] At the top of the promotional segment, weatherman Al Roker teed up Alter's sales pitch: "President Obama in 2010, when his party faced humiliating losses... continue reading
CNN's Piers Morgan tried to resurrect his desperate push for gun control on Wednesday's Piers Morgan Live . Morgan spat on the NRA and bullied author Wayne Allen Root for joining the organization. "You joined the NRA after Sandy Hook. Why would anybody do that?" Morgan challenged Root. He also defended Britain's handgun ban: "And guess what, we don't get anybody shot dead in Britain! We have about 30 to 40 murders with guns a year. That's the whole point of banning guns!" [Video below the break. Audio here .] Bypassing Second Amendment concerns, Morgan argued that plenty of guns... continue reading
Chalk this one up to the absurd. CNN's Ashleigh Banfield on Wednesday tried to draw a legal parallel between a Sharia Law execution and a Catholic school firing a teacher for violating her contract by disobeying church teaching on pregnancy. Banfield argued both violated the teacher's Constitutional rights. "Well if it's an Islamic school and they decide to go with Sharia Law and they decide to stone me for this, they can't do that either," Banfield ridiculously argued. "Then don't sign up to be the teacher," responded prosecutor Christine Grillo, who multiple times reiterated that the teacher had violated her... continue reading
CNN exaggerated poll numbers on Thursday's Newsroom to claim that Americans are writing off the scandals of the Obama administration. CNN's Suzanne Malveaux and Alison Kosik reported that voters were "a lot more concerned about the economy" and were saying " to heck with the scandals ." Yet poll numbers showed voters did not say "to heck with" the IRS scandal, as a vast majority still wanted an investigation of the IRS probe of Tea Party groups. [Audio here .] While a Quinnipiac poll showed 73 percent of voters deeming the economy a "higher priority" than "investigating" the scandals, 76... continue reading
An unhinged Chris Matthews on Thursday launched into a bewildering rant, lamenting the scandals swirling around the President and suggesting that Germany may have actually won World War II because the country has high speed rail. The Hardball anchor fumed, "You look at Germany, where I just was, and see state-of-the-art bridges and super modern rail system." Mentioning Germany's subway system, Matthews insisted, " You wonder, who won that war anyway? Looks like they did." [MP3 audio here .] The MSNBC anchor doesn't appear to listen to himself speak. He asserted, "We've got a 7.5 percent unemployment rate right now... continue reading
Appearing on Thursday's NBC Today to promote his new show premiering on the Military Channel, The Brokaw Files , special correspondent Tom Brokaw fondly looked back at a 1993 interview he conducted with Bill and Hillary Clinton: "It's amazing when you stop and think about all that they've been through. That was 1993, it's 20 years ago, and they're still at the top of the attention span in this country." [ Listen to the audio ] In the 20-year-old clip that was shown, Brokaw is seen lobbing this softball to then-President Clinton, as Hillary looked on: "How long do you... continue reading
